Hey everyone! 👋 Have you ever worked with a colleague who just doesn’t seem to grasp the basics of their job, even after a year on the team? I’m in that situation right now with a guy who has a senior title but still can’t seem to figure out basic networking concepts. 🤦♂️ He’s getting paid a pretty hefty salary, around $180k, but his lack of knowledge is starting to impact our team’s productivity.
I keep seeing him make really dumb suggestions that highlight his lack of understanding, and it’s becoming frustrating for everyone involved. Do you think I should bring this up to my boss, or should I just stay quiet and let it be? I want to make sure our team is performing at its best, but I also don’t want to create unnecessary drama.
Possible solution:
– Consider scheduling a one-on-one meeting with the new guy to talk about your observations and offer to provide some resources or training to help him improve.
– If the issue persists, it may be best to bring it up to your boss in a professional and constructive manner, focusing on the impact on team performance rather than personal criticisms.
What do you think? Have you ever been in a similar situation, and how did you handle it? Let’s discuss! 🤔 #ProfessionalGrowth #TeamDynamics
And here I am making 19 an hour. Wish I could stumble into one of these positions lol.
Mention it to your boss that you are worried he doesn’t have the knowledge. Nothing wrong with wanting the weakest link to get stronger on the team.
How do you hire these people in the first place exactly? Just curious.
Daily reminder that I gotta work on my soft skills, thanks
Depends.
You are forced to ask him about issues? Talk about it with your boss.
Is it a super profitable corporation and could hire extra people but doesn’t? Let it go and ask for extra help. It’s not really your responsibility to fix their HR interviewing process.
I personally wouldn’t say anything. It’ll make it easier for you to get promoted and raises. If you say something then they fire him and you have competition or they give him a performance plan and he surpasses you

Before going to your boss, make sure you understand the relationship between this guy and your boss. I’ve seen many senior guys brought in on great packages because of their relationship with the hiring manager.
