#HelpNeeded #WhatToWear #FirstDayJitters
Hey everyone! Can someone help me out? I have my first day at my new job tomorrow as a Retail Associate at Cumberland Farms, a Gas Station. I’m torn between two outfits and could really use some advice!
Options:
– Outfit 1: My planned outfit
– Outfit 2: Formal outfit my mom bought me 🤦♀️
I don’t want to be overdressed for my role as a cashier, but I also don’t want to look too casual either. Any suggestions on what would be appropriate for my first day? Share your thoughts and help a girl out! 👗💼💡
I’d got with #1
1 is much more business casual, whereas two is much more formal, you just have to decide what look you’d rather be associated with.
Hear me out- the pants from one and the shirt from two. It would make a great work outfit. Whether you want to tuck it in or not is up to you but it would be a nice outfit for work and it will keep you cooler than the other one would. Retail areas like to keep their buildings hot in the summer
wear what your mother got you (be proud of it)
For an office job, I’d generally say dress up the first week and then match the formality of what most people are wearing. Idk for a cashier job, though. Did they give you any dress code suggestions?
I’d go with the second pants first shirt if you iron it. The funny thing about this is before I read the description I though “these look like something a mom would pick out for their son” and one is. Overall wear what makes you feel confident and focus on the job. Good luck on your first day!
definetly 2
Shirt from the first one pants from the second dress it down by rolling up the sleeves and maybe wearing it untucked if that’s allowed, you’ll look like a star
Say you’re American without saying you’re American
Do you need help with learning to use an iron
2. But ditch the cargo pants
Don’t wear cargo pants on your first day. Either shirt is fine. After you’ve been working there a few days if others are wearing cargo you can switch. You can only make 1 first impression.
If you think picture two is for a wedding, oh boy
People will judge you based on your appearance. Go for the 2nd one. You can always dress down later. #2 shows you care about the job
I’d go with the second outfit. It’s been a long time since I shopped at a Cumberland Farms store (I believe we called it “Cumbie’s”)
But I think eventually they will give you some shirts to wear. Either way, in your first day, ask the manager about dress code. They may have some weird policies about cargo pants or shorts or something.
Within reason, it’s almost impossible to over dress for an occasion. Very easy to underdress, and at the very least, make a bad impression.
2nd one, it is ironed properly.
Ditch the cargo pants. Either shirt can work, but they need to be ironed. It’s okay to be “too dressed up” for the first few days until see how your coworkers look on a day to day, then you can dress to match their level.
What’s with the pants in the first picture? Is this gas station located in the Amazon Rainforest?
Do they not have uniforms? Most gas station/convenience stores wear uniforms.
Who cares, it’s a gas station
