#SuccessStory #SoftwareEngineer #ProbationPassed
Guys, I made it! I actually made it! A success story on this sub-reddit for once. 🙌
I finally passed probation. I am now a Junior Software Engineer at a mid-sized enterprise company. It’s not FAANG but it’s a good job and I’m very grateful to have it.
##The Journey to Success
It felt like a dream for so many years. So many nights spent coding, watching videos about people who made it, building project after project. I spent 3 years studying and working on personal projects for 2-3 hours a day after my 9-5 job.
###Facing Rejection
Rejection after rejection. “You don’t have enough experience, you don’t know enough, other developers have better skills.” With my current job, I -kinda- had the skills, so I applied anyway. I didn’t think much of it but next thing I knew, I got an interview. Thought I bombed but I did well. Did a code test and I did well. I guess they were right lol.
###Persistence pays off
I never gave up. I never stopped grinding. I did whatever it took to make it happen. I must have spent over 5000 hours studying and building increasingly complex projects in my spare time. It was hard. I wanted to give up so many times. I’ve had so much imposter syndrome. But I never gave up.
##Strategies that worked for me
– **Continuous Learning:** I asked interviewers what my strengths and weaknesses were. I took notes of the topics they mentioned that I didn’t know. I always expressed an eagerness to learn.
– **Self-investment:** Although I didn’t have a lot of experience, I invested heavily in myself and I would ask hiring managers to consider my GitHub projects. They did!
– **Persistence:** Despite facing setbacks and rejections, I kept pushing forward. I never stopped grinding and did whatever it took to achieve my goal.
###Celebrating Success
I am proud of myself. My mother is proud of me. My friends are proud of me. I fucking achieved something. I achieved it through my own effort. I’m so happy :).
##Final Thoughts
I wish all of you the best of luck on your journeys towards success. Remember, it’s a struggle, even for those of us who succeed. But with persistence, continuous learning, and self-investment, you can achieve your goals and make your dreams a reality. Keep pushing forward, keep grinding, and never give up. Success is within reach. 🌟
So, to all aspiring software engineers out there, keep hustling and never give up on your dreams. Your success story could be next! #SuccessStory #SoftwareEngineer #DreamBig
