#JobTransition #UnexpectedLayoff #NewBeginnings
So, I just put in my two weeks at my job because they were cutting my hours like crazy. But instead of a smooth transition, my boss hit me with the news that my position no longer exists. Talk about a plot twist! 🤯
But hey, I already have a new job lined up with benefits and all, so I’ll be alright. If you’ve ever been in a similar situation, let’s chat! How did you handle it? Here are some possible solutions to consider:
– Always have a financial safety net in place in case of unexpected layoffs
– Network and stay connected with industry professionals for potential job opportunities
– Stay positive and focused on your goals, even when faced with setbacks
Let’s turn this unexpected turn of events into a learning experience for all of us! 💪 #StayPositive #NewBeginnings
Contact your former co-workers to let them know that a 2 week notice = instant dismissal and no pay.
Same thing happened to someone I know. Boss didn’t know that because he “fired” her, he still had to give her two weeks pay. Boss didn’t believe it when she told him (via email), she sent him the link to labour code, and his lawyer confirmed she was right!
Check labour laws in your area.
Hey, even though you have the new job, see if you can file for unemployment for the layoff. At the very least it makes paperwork for them. But maybe they will have to pay you for the two weeks.
Sounds like he did you a favour
You gave notice and they accepted the notice immediately. You did not get laid off.
Nobody wants to work?
Quite common. A lot of companies don’t want u around once u decide to leave. They’re afraid you’ll either bad-mouth to other employees or you’ll upsell ur new job and others will also leave.
uh, if he’s laid you off then you get unemployment benefits.
I don’t know why people do thar. So weird
So vindictive! They’re angry that their slave wants off their plantation.
If you start your new job in 2 days chances of you getting unemployment are very slim. The waiting period is usually a week
There’s no reason to give employers any notice. Just pack your things and leave when it’s most convenient for you.
One time I had a part time job and when I put my two week notice in they literally unscheduled me for the entire week except Saturday and Sunday, which I naturally did not go to. They called me those days and asked me if I was coming in and I said no, why bother. Fuck that job
I have never once been allowed to finish out my notice period when I have given notice to a employer. Almost always its a, “finish up your current work and lets check in tomorrow”.
Tomorrow is inevitably, “have a nice vacation before you start a new job. Security will walk you out after you collect your things.”
Corporations would not give you two weeks notice if they laid you off.
Treat corporations exactly the same way they treat you.
Unless it’s part of a contract, NEVER give 2 weeks notice.
He didn’t lay you off. He accepted your resignation and made it effective starting now as is their right to do.
He did you a favor by letting you go, collect unemployment.
A lot of companies do this to limit liability, theft, safety/security concerns, etc.
Lollllll I guess they decided they like you so much they wanted to pay unemployment! Clowns.
