Hey everyone, have you ever experienced a super awkward job interview that left you questioning if you’ll get the job? 🤔 Well, I just had one and it was definitely a unique experience! Let me break it down for you:
– The first interviews went great, but the final one was a mess with mixed signals and confusing questions.
– I felt like I was being grilled on topics not even listed on my CV, like Azure and advanced ServiceNOW modules.
– The interviewer seemed unimpressed with my Powershell projects and pushed me to explain why I didn’t use C# instead. Awkward! 😬
– Despite the weird vibes, I’m hoping for the best and waiting to hear back from HR in a few days.
Overall, I’m not sure how it went, but I’m curious to know if others have had similar experiences. Have you ever felt like an interview went south unexpectedly? Any tips on handling awkward situations like these? Let’s discuss and support each other through these challenging times! 🌟🤝
Your input and advice would be greatly appreciated – let’s turn awkward interviews into learning opportunities and growth experiences for all! 🚀 #InterviewFail #JobHunt #SupportCommunity
Some IT employers are *really* bad at the interview process. I applied for an MSP a couple years ago, and HR kept trying to schedule an interview during my work hours. I said that I am already employed 8-5 M-F and would need to schedule something outside of those hours. They FINALLY nailed down a 7:30 AM time slot, and I let them know I would be driving to work during that time. Not only did HR lie about it being a general interview and NOT a technical interview, but they also apparently didn’t tell the people I was interviewing with that I would driving. They kept asking me to turn on my camera, and I obviously could not. And they started hammering me with technical questions that I was not prepared for while driving.
The whole thing was a nightmare, made worse by the fact that the *way* I answered the questions wasn’t right, as they wanted me to role play instead of speaking about the issue in a general format. And the dude was honestly pretty rude when I didn’t play along like he wanted.
It was awkward, so much so that I took note of the company so I never mistakenly apply there again. I’ve had dozens of interviews and that was the worst by a mile.
> Now comes the fun part. Lol. He starts being a smartass and tries to grill me about why I didn’t do it in C# instead.
The “stress interview” is an interviewing tactic. Not saying that’s what was happening here. But look it up to be prepared in case it happens in the future.
Sounds like just about every interview I’ve had in this current job market.
If they’re not obviously reading off a list of questions they don’t even know the answers too, then they’re asking me about stuff that’s not on my resume
In interview expect to be asked about things you don’t know about.
Especially in a third interview where they already have an idea of who you are.
Maybe they want to know if you will lie. Maybe they want to see your thought process for how your approach something unfamiliar. Humility and “I don’t know, but here’s what I’d do…” _are_ skills.
Just a random question, was the MSP Getronics?
You interview enough times, you will run into people/companies like this. The best thing you can do is steer clear from these people/companies.
