Hey everyone, let’s help out a fellow job seeker who’s feeling stuck and lost in the world of unemployment. Here are some things to focus on while you’re in between jobs:
🌟 Find a hobby: Whether it’s painting, gardening, or even learning a new language, diving into a hobby can help occupy your time and give you a sense of purpose.
🌟 Volunteer: Giving back to your community not only benefits others but can also boost your self-esteem and provide a sense of fulfillment.
🌟 Stay active: Exercise is not only great for physical health but can also improve your mood and overall well-being. Plus, it’s a great way to combat the stress of job hunting.
🌟 Network: Take this time to connect with others in your field, attend networking events, and reach out to potential mentors. Building relationships can lead to new opportunities.
🌟 Focus on self-care: Make sure to prioritize your mental health by practicing self-care activities such as meditation, journaling, or simply taking time for yourself.
Remember, it’s essential to take care of yourself during this challenging time. Keep pushing forward, and things will eventually fall into place. You’ve got this! 💪 #JobSeeker #SelfImprovement
My mental health was tanking too during a long job hunting stretch. The only thing that got me out of the gutter was finding a freelance project. The pay is mediocre, but having something steady to focus on that provided a small income was such a life raft for me. It also helped boost my confidence during interviews. I wasn’t “unemployed” anymore, but was instead an “independent contractor”.
Aside from that, try to connect with what made you happy as a child. For me, it was re-finding the magic in nature. I spend a lot more time marveling at trees these days. It helps keep me grounded and helped me to remember that there are good things in life worth going after.
Wishing you good luck, I totally empathize with the struggle :/.
I should take my own advice here, but I’d go with some sort of education. You can use Coursera, Udemy, LinkedIn learning if you want to pay for it, and there are plenty of free ways to learn new resume worth skills. Just be creative about how you add what you learn to your resume since people don’t always trust a skill when it didn’t come from a job.
Find inexpensive ways to have fun and enjoy life.
How about a fitness/training program? It’s always great to get in better shape, and it’s something I miss having the time to dedicate to now that I have a FT job!
That, or look around for lectures or courses in a skill related to your degree or potential job field, or like someone else suggested a freelance project if that’s possible. I filled up a very long unemployment gap on my resume with freelance work and some certifications.
Work out.
Try journalling/writing.
Take online classes (try to find some that are free)
Freelance your skills to subsidize your income.
Cooking new foods.
