Hey fellow recruiters! 👋 I’m curious, how long did your first sale take? As someone new to the recruiting world, I’m eager to learn from your experiences. Let’s dive into some questions:
– How long did it take the average full-time recruiter to make their first placement and get paid?
– How many placements do you typically make in a month or year?
– What niche do you find is the easiest to complete a placement in, for building experience and confidence?
I believe that having a solid understanding of the recruiting process and industry trends can greatly benefit new recruiters. By sharing our experiences and insights, we can all grow and succeed together! Let’s start this conversation and learn from each other. 💼✨
3 weeks, but the next one took 2.5 months

Took me a week. 2nd placement took me 8 months. 3rd placement took me another year. Now I’m billing 2-3 placements a month. Depends on the industry. BTW I have 10 years exp
Got one in my first week.
My first agency I was put on a warm desk so I was making consistent placements after month 2. My current agency is a boutique and I’m on a cold desk and it took 6 months to get my first placement (although it was the biggest fee I’d ever made). Now my desk is lumpy af. Some months I’m $0 this month I’ve made two placements.
I worked in healthcare recruiting, primarily per-diem and then eventually travel. It took about 3 weeks to get successful placements after my 6 week mark I avg about 6 starts per week. This was pretty standard with per-diem because you’re just constantly hiring individuals to go in and pick up shifts so you’re constantly needing to build your pipeline to keep your books and TOAS full.
It’s just churning and burning and maintaining a decent relationship so if he’s pick back up in their area they’d still be willing to work with my company instead of another one. As far as pay, we had base and commission, commission was based on total hrs of TOAS worked and I had to meet 201 hrs before hitting the first tier which I believe was 2%. My first commission check was t earned until my 3 month mark.
It sounds like you’re in corporate and that is going to look vastly different from my experience in agency.
Been recruiting for 3.5 years now and when I started it took a week to get my first booking. Average 25 placements per month. Just finishing this work week I had 6.
