Prestigious to whom?
Nothing prestigious about working for your uncles 15m AUM hedge fund. If anything, you could possibly make the argument that specific jobs within specific firms are more prestigious than others.
What about Risk Management?
I would have argued asset management as being incredibly difficult to break into as there are only a few spots for a large number of applicants.
I’m a little bit confused – maybe it’s different in the US so I can’t comment there but any long-only will take on less than 10 undergraduates in London while have lots more people applying. I can’t speak for the US but asset management spots are increasingly decreasing as well due to fee compression.
can someone in the US explain whether it’s different over there?
A lot of people in FP&A also look at treasury roles because it’s a fairly easy transition and the work is boring but pays well.
Why aren’t more interested in wealth management?
