I keep booster cables, a folding shovel, a heat reflecting blanket and some kitty litter in mine because I live in an area with terrible winters. Also a tire pump in case of flats and a couple of laundry baskets in the trunk for groceries, so I don’t have to remember to bring a bunch of reuseable shopping bags into the store with me (groceries leave the store in my cart, and get transferred into the laundry baskets directly)
Some documents in my glove compartment, sunglasses, beach mat, windscreen cover, and I think thatβs it lol
Hand sanitizer, disposable gloves, gum, gun, sunglasses, shopping bags, water, cashβ¦you know, the essentials
Some of this depends on where you are, but
* fire extinguisher
* first aid kit
* jumper cables
* random box of fuses
* flashlight
* basic tool kit
* electrical test light
* hammer or some other substantial bonking implenent
* duct tape
* WD40
* gun
* reflective triangles
* SHTF weather radio
* batteries
is most/all of what’s in the truck
Add in a Gerber or something similar if you don’t carry one to begin with.
My purse, keys, and badge for work so I never forget them. Baby wipes, a lint roller, car charger, diaper bag, jumper cables, my spare tire and the kit that came with the car for changing the tire, phone chargers, pens, sunglasses, and whatever trash and crumbs and crap is in the backseat courtesy of my kids
Half my closet, cups for at least a week, and trash.
Insurance and registration in the glovebox, along with a tire pressure gauge, flashlight, and a small basic first aid kit. In the little side pocket of my door I keep sunglasses, and a taser. Charging cables, small pack of tissues, and hand sanitizer in the center console.
Jumper cables, fire extinguisher, air pump, tire iron, jack, and a small tool kit in the trunk.
Also worth mentioning the extra $2 a month to add emergency roadside service to my insurance because while I *appear* prepared, Iβm mostly useless in a crisis π€£
– battery jumper cables
– $100 cash hidden
– insurance cards
– towel
– extra feminine products
– window scraper for ice
– umbrella for rain
– a coat
– tissues/face wipes
– always always always have a spare tire or donut
To everyone saying guns, I hope you donβt mean βstoreβ in your car by βkeepβ. They need to be removed from your vehicle and secured within your home while youβre there. A large number of guns in the hands of criminals are stolen from the vehicles of legal gun owners. Source- have worked in evidence and talked to many people who had their guns stolen from their vehicle only to be retrieved by law enforcement.
I keep an extra toothbrush, some pads, fresh clothes and a bathing suit and towel in my car. I always want to be ready for spontaneous adventures. My friends live quite far, sometimes I like deciding last minute to spend the night at their house! And I grew up by the coast, so night swimming was always a thing. And apparently not everyone like to skinny dip!
Also, tons of snacks. I can live out of my car for days!
Two bottles of water, couple of protein bars, sugar free lozenges, paracetamol, blanket with waterproof on other side, tissues, mask, sunglasses, umbrella, reusable shopping bags, windscreen sunshade, phone charger, jumper cables.
Extra change of clothes. Extra jacket. Emergency blanket. First aid kit. Flashlight. Water. Emergency things in case you get a flat or stranded somewhere. Extra charger cables. Emergency money.
A mini lotion, splash, perfume
You can also keep snacks π
Wipes, pocket
Essentials (id’s, license, etc)
Hair brush
Some makeup π
Pretty much everything from food and drink (not perishable), to lists of phone numbers for everything, to AA books on how to mend little things, to cigarettes! (I don’t smoke but anyone who helps me might welcome one!)
Wet wipes and a picnic rug.
Baseball bat, blanket, water, napkins, hard candy, reusable grocery bags, knife, sunglasses, motor oil and cord to my phone if I want to listen to music.
jumper cables, first aid kit, light, sunglasses, defense item(what is appropriate/legal), napkins, charging cable, small movers blanket(to place items upon from maybe a nursery/home improvement store), lighter, paracord, pocket knife or multitool, small toolkit
In my boot I keep my jumpstart cables in case of flat battery, water, a warm jacket and shopping bags. In my front compartment is my car manual, tissues, sunscreen and my sunglasses. I need to get this one gadget though that I saw being advertised which helps pump air into flat tires till you get to your nearest garage. I need something like this.
More than anything? A Rechargeable battery jump starter.
Next, a big emergency wool blanket. Finally, spare water and food.
I’ve gotten stuck in the middle of nowhere several times, and I’ll swear by this stuff.
Nothing, I don’t want my shit stolen.
Car windows get broken for a few quarters on the seat around here. Like hell I’m gonna keep anything in my car.
Battery cables, Extra Oil, A Window breaker that also cuts seatbelts. Flashlights, a first aid kit
Most of the stuff already mentioned plus one case of water. Itβs an Arizona thingβ¦
Change, Insurance card, screwdriver sets, socket wrenches, extension cords, impact gun, lug nut sockets, rope, rain poncho, gloves, toque and a case of water.
Bear spray, snow socks, punchout, rock hammer, blankets, water, ziplock of energy bars, spare boots, socks, jackets, and an AC/DC converter.
Tourniquet in the glove box is my contribution.
One of the easiest pieces of medical equipment to use, and can **actually** make the difference between life and death.
Everything else in my car is pretty normal. Vehicle documents, jumper cables, sunglasses, phone charger, pocket knife, mini trash can. Ice scraper and umbrella depending on season. I also *need* my vehicle to feel tidy, so thereβs a catch-all collapsible bin in the back hatch for random things that are transient.
Jumper battery, theyβre small now not unlike a portable phone battery! Comes in clutch so you donβt have to wait for someone or a stranger to jump your car. I wonβt drive a car without a spare tire and Jack, itβs so common that new cars donβt come with a spare. Iβve had a full blowout on the freeway, a cute can of goo was not going to patch me up, but I was able to crawl to a gas station at the next exit and change it myself! (Thanks to my high school BFs dad owning a car shop making sure we all knew how.) spare shoes, high viz vest, and a plastic poncho in case I have to walk home or to get help. If snow is in the forecast, folding shovel, snow boots, pants, and my ski coat and a blanket.
Edit: first aid kit. Iβm always needing a bandaid it seems. Iβve cut myself on sharp shopping carts!
* sleeping bag
* warm blankets
* extra towels
* one change of clothes for summer, for my kid and I
* one change of clothes for winter, for my kid and I
* lots of snacks
* toiletries (soap, toothbrush/paste, feminine products)
* portable toilet, wipes, and doggy bags
* one gallon of water
* short beach chair
* first aid kit
* reusable grocery bags
* small tool kit
* flat tire kit
And other stuff I’m probably forgetting. I have a chrysler town & country and have A LOT of space.
First aid, make sure itβs the tactical kind with the bleeding kit and a tourniquet. Emergency bag that has clothes, protein bars or granola, or any alternative if you have a nut allergy, meds (make sure to keep an eye on temp control and exp date), water, try keeping 1L bottles, a qt of oil, a bottle of coolant, antifreeze, degreaser, your spare tire tools, cables for a jump start.
Inside your car:
Window breaker with the seatbelt cutter blade, pepper spray, taser (you can charge via USB), water, notepad, pens, hand sanitizer, sanitary products (in the trunk too), if youβre willing – a quick switch blade. Just make sure you know how to use it.
Extra I keep:
Hair ties, Vaseline, a shit ton of new lip balms, lotion and tissues.
Portable jumper and air compressor thing, extra tire and all the things needed to change it including a poncho and head light. Extra reusable bag, underwear, pad, tampon, umbrella, phone chargers, hot hands, blanket, socks, non melting candy, hair ties, snow scraper, gloves, hoodie, face mask, glasses wipes, sanitizing wipes.
And of course trash, reusable cups and a bag of stuff that Iβve been meaning to donate
I’ve had a Halloween costume in the back seat for like 3 months π€£
I keep: Gum, a charger, tissues, some cash, water bottle, perfume, Vaseline & Lipgloss, hand sanitiser, hair brush, wipes, a coat and a pencil case π
thereβs probably more but thatβs what I can think of rn
