#JobTransition #VacationTime #GiveNotice
Hey there, fellow work warriors! 💼💼 Have you ever found yourself in a sticky situation where you need to give your notice at a job before heading off on a well-deserved vacation? 🌴☀️ Here’s a dilemma from one of our community members:
They have a honeymoon coming up from 7/15 to 7/26 and a new job starting on 8/1, but they want their last day at their current job to be on 7/30. When should they give their notice to avoid any hiccups with their plans? 😬
Here’s a possible solution for this situation:
* Notify your current job as soon as possible: To ensure a smooth transition and to respect your current employer, it’s best to give them as much notice as you can. This way, you can discuss any concerns or issues that may arise, such as not being able to work through your notice period.
By addressing the situation proactively and professionally, you increase the chances of finding a solution that works for everyone involved. After all, communication is key in any job transition! 🗝️💬

Never give notice before going on vacation because you will be let go in most situations before even leaving for your vacation. That’s my personal experience because unfortunately I’ve had to let people go that way. No matter how much vacation time you give, or no matter how many days you are going to take off in advance, always give your resignation after you return. Usually, if it’s a company that requires two weeks or one week, the moment you get back and submit your resignation for that amount of time, you’ll get called in around lunch to the boss’s office for an official pink slip.
Yeah I would give notice when you get back.
A great opportunity that fell in your lap, you couldn’t pass up.
If your contract is “at will”, what is the problem? You can make any day, your last day.
Congratulations on the marriage and the new job.
If you can’t afford to go unpaid for 2 weeks you shouldn’t be going on a honeymoon. Much less quitting your job going unpaid for 1 month. Sorry but this is why you need to be told
Show up for work Monday the 29th. Submit your resignation after lunch. That’s it.
