Have you ever wondered why the family in A Quiet Place didn’t just build their camp next to the waterfall? 🤔 It seems like a logical choice, right? Well, let’s dive into the reasons why they might have chosen a different location and explore the strategic thinking behind their decision.
The Importance of Silence in A Quiet Place
– The family in A Quiet Place is constantly in danger from creatures that hunt by sound.
– Any noise they make can attract these creatures, putting their lives at risk.
– Building their camp next to a waterfall would create a constant noise that could potentially mask other sounds, but there are other factors to consider.
The Challenges of Building Near a Waterfall
1. Constant Noise: While the waterfall would create a consistent sound, it could also mask other important noises, such as the approach of the creatures.
2. Accessibility: Getting to and from the waterfall could be challenging, especially if the family needed to leave in a hurry.
3. Exposure: Being near a waterfall could make it difficult for the family to conceal their location from both the creatures and other survivors.
Alternative Strategies for Survival
1. Soundproofing: The family chooses to soundproof their living spaces to minimize noise and reduce their risk of detection.
2. Alarms: They set up alarms and other warning systems to alert them to nearby dangers without attracting attention.
3. Strategic Retreats: The family has designated safe zones where they retreat in case of emergency, allowing them to regroup and plan their next move.
In Conclusion
While building their camp next to a waterfall may have offered some benefits, the family in A Quiet Place ultimately prioritized their safety and strategic advantage over the potential noise cover. By soundproofing their living spaces, setting up alarms, and planning strategic retreats, they were able to outsmart the creatures and survive in a world where noise meant death.
So, next time you watch A Quiet Place, remember the family’s strategic thinking and the sacrifices they made for survival. And who knows, maybe building next to a waterfall would have been their downfall after all. 😉👏🔥

Because then the movie wouldn’t have happened.
It wasn’t in the script.
Because then it would’ve been a pretty boring movie.
Look they were all under a lot of stress
Why didn’t Gandolf just get the giant eagles to take Frodo to Mordor, flyover and let him drop the ring in
This is an unforgiveable lapse in logic that IMO ruins the movie.
Why didn’t John McLane just take the emergency stairs he had been using all night all the way to the ground floor of the Nakatomi building and let the swat team in?
I absolutely love when questions like this pop up
That just wouldn’t work. What kind of permanent camp could you really set up in the middle of the woods without making a bunch of noise bringing the supplies there in the first place? And food? They’d have to leave constantly anyway.
They wouldn’t have shelter and the amenities that the house gave them. Plus weren’t they farming the land?
Wouldn’t the waterfall attract attention?
You ever spend time near a waterfall? Everything, I mean *everything* is damp all the time. It’s miserable. And cold. Damp and cold. I’ll take my chances with the monsters.
It would be a terrible idea. The waterfall would attract tons of attention until a while has passed and the creatures slowly learn that the sound of rushing water doesn’t mean food. That’s a lot of opportunities for one of them to accidentally discover them
I don’t know if it would provide that much protection. All the creatures would have to go investigate it to find out it’s nothing, so every time a new creature came to the area its first stop would probably be to go have a look.
Plus, it’s just not nice to be wet 24/7. Especially for your feet then you can’t run. If you’re brave read up on trenchfoot.
Ok so we got plot armor. But we also have plot stupidity where for the plot the characters loose brain cells
Wouldn’t monsters also drink?
Here’s the problem with your question: you’re assuming that the family built that house/farm AFTER the invasion. For all we know, they could have just found an abandoned farm and moved into it.
They probably didn’t build a new house next to the waterfall because A) they don’t know how to build a house, B) maybe construction noises would be too loud even for the cover that the waterfall would provide, and C) they don’t have the time/materials to build another house even if they wanted to
Waterfalls are very wet and very loud. Although the loudness helps, it will also make you less sensitive to more subtle sounds.
Plot convenience.
The real question is, how had they not all died from farting or coughing in their sleep etc and accidentally provoking the monsters?
