#JobSearchStruggles: Feeling Defeated by the Job Search Process
Hey there, I totally get where you’re coming from. It can be incredibly frustrating to put in so much effort into finding a job and feeling like you’re getting nowhere. But before you throw in the towel completely, let’s take a step back and look at some actionable steps you can take to improve your job search process.
## Reflect on Your Approach
It sounds like you’ve been applying to a lot of different places, which is great, but it might be worth taking a closer look at your approach. Make sure your resume is tailored to each specific job you’re applying for. Highlight relevant experiences and skills that make you a good fit for that particular position.
## Expand Your Search
While it’s good to have a target in mind for the type of job you want, it might be beneficial to broaden your search a bit. Consider looking into industries or roles that you haven’t explored before. You never know, you might find a hidden gem that aligns perfectly with your skills and interests.
## Network, Network, Network
Don’t underestimate the power of networking. Reach out to friends, family, former colleagues, or even acquaintances to see if they know of any job opportunities. Attend job fairs, industry events, or workshops to connect with professionals in your field.
## Seek Professional Help
If you’re feeling stuck, consider reaching out to a career counselor or job coach for guidance. They can provide valuable insights, help you fine-tune your job search strategy, and boost your confidence.
## Stay Positive and Persistent
I know it’s tough, but try to stay positive and keep pushing forward. It’s easy to get discouraged, but remember that your perfect job might be just around the corner. Keep refining your approach, seeking feedback, and honing your skills.
Remember, the job search process can be challenging, but it’s important to stay proactive and resilient. Don’t give up just yet. Keep pushing forward and exploring new opportunities. Who knows, the right job might be just a few applications away. Good luck! 🌟 #JobSearch #CareerAdvice #StayPositive
It’s brutal. Lots of BS, scambait and ghosting. Otherwise, 10 years exp and advanced degree for a job paying 60% of local COL.
This is giving victim
Most people aren’t struggling that much. So… the issue is you.
You don’t have to go into debt to get a college degree, FYI. If your family is low income or if you’re over 24 (I believe) and you’re low income, you can apply for the FAFSA and get a pell grant. A pell grant will give you a full ride for a 2year degree at a Community College.
Your decision to write a whiny wall of text is probably a good indicator of why you can’t land a job. Go to college or join the military. College is free or cheap in the US if you are dirt poor (it helps to not have a job).
Sounds like the same situation I’m in feels like the world is stopping me from working cause I’m the problem 🤷♂️ McDonald’s, restaurants every fucking where nothing. your not alone op we both are shit faced in the rug and poor.
Alright, first and foremost – I hear you, brother. Know that you have been heard by myself, and what you have stated resonates with millions of people out there.
I will not get into my own struggles, but I will assist by providing you with wisdom that I’ve learned this far in *the game*. I’m not sorry for what I’m about to say.
To start, you must bite the bullet. I know what you’re thinking – fuck that. Right? That’s a knee-jerk reaction. Man, you have to get a job. ANY job, or else you WILL wind up homeless/full of regret at some point. And you already know this, but guess what, though? One job will not cut it. You MUST think further ahead. GRIND IT OUT. Not with a bad, feeling sorry for yourself attitude, either. You are not alone, and many other people out there have it worse than you do, so I have to be frank and say get your shit together.
*Even if you have to work two different fast food jobs at the same time, hold your damn chin up*.
Man, you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do. Think about it this way: right now, you work your ass off (great employee) at two jobs. Great. You made money, gained “work experience”, and now you can use one, the other, or both of those things gained to build on that. Yes – you are building, my man. Do not sulk. That’s where WAY too many people go wrong and then they grow up to wish they had realized that they did have options at those points in their life, but it just doesn’t suit WHAT THEY WANTED TO DO AT THE TIME.
Last few items: FUCK what anyone else thinks, work multiple jobs, do the best that you can, get better every day (in all facets), know that you will have tough days, and shoot for your dreams (if you have that figured out, if not, then figure it out). You can do it, man. Believe in yourself, even when no one else will.
P.S. Get into serving, study bartending at night, and work your way towards that to get some cash flow. You need money right now to pursue whatever you want to do. Start small, stay fierce.
Don’t forget to be a good person with all of these miserable clout chasing people out there <3
I’d recommend checking out foodservice jobs if you don’t have *any* income coming in. It’s pretty easy to get leadership experience at a fast food place and that opens a lot of doors.
This is the career trajectory of someone I know:
Team member at *fast food place* to Trainer at *same fast food place* to Team Leader at *fast food place* to Manager at *fast food place*to Director of marketing at *fast food place* to Marketing director for *local university*.
Develop a skill such a HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical work etc. There’s plenty of work out there that pays 20 + bucks per hour just to be a new hire. Once you’ve developed your skills you can start working a side hustle or network and go on your own. You can easily make 500+ bucks a day.
4 months, try a year. I feel the same way man, idk what they’re all expecting or looking for. Interviews full of dumb, irrelevant questions that only hinder the process. Good luck
