#CaseysGasStation #WorkShirtDilemma #NeedHelp
Hey there, fam! So, I recently started working at Casey’s Gas Station and let me tell you, it’s been quite the ride. I got my first work shirt on day one, feeling all official and whatnot. But here’s the kicker – I asked if I could get another one or maybe two extras, you know, for those messy days at the pump.
They said they’d order some shirts in my size and give me a heads up when they were in. Fast forward a few days and I’m still rocking that one lonely shirt. I asked about it and apparently, since I’m part-time now, the word on the street is I’m only getting one shirt (cue the sad trombone).
Now, I’m all about keeping it clean and presentable, but washing a shirt every single day? Ain’t nobody got time or money for that, especially when I’m swimming in bills like I’m Michael Phelps. The struggle is real, folks.
So here’s where I need your help – what’s a guy to do when the gas station won’t give me more shirts or let me buy extras? How can I stay fresh and clean without breaking the bank?
Let’s brainstorm together and find a solution, because this work shirt drama is reaching peak levels. Drop your thoughts below and let’s crack this case wide open! 💭👕 #TeamWorkShirt #SqueakyCleanSolutions #CaseysCommunity
There’s really no way to pursue this other than what you are already doing. At least not legally. You can continue to politely ask.
Do you have a sink and/or bathtub?
Do you have Dawn or shampoo? If not, get some. Doesn’t take alot.
Wash the shirt by hand, rinse, squeeze the water out of it and hang up to dry.
I did this for years. I used to wash my laundry in the bathtub. Stomped it like grapes.
Buy a shirt or two the same style and color as your work shirt…maybe from the thrift store.
Wear them until somebody notices.
It takes forever for somebody to notice.
This isn’t really an HR question because nothing illegal or discriminatory here. But I have some thought that may help.
You can wash the shirt when you shower. Then hang it up in front of (or from) an AC vent. The blowing air will help dry it. Use just a little bit of soap and rinse it really well. When it is damp dry pull the seams straight and that will help pull out the wrinkles. I’ve done this. You could also hang it in a window that gets a lot of sun – the heat would help dry it. Don’t hang it in the bathroom. Bathrooms stay too damp to dry things.
Also wearing a light weight cotton t- shirt will help keep sweat off of it. When I worked outside I wore a tank top under a loose t-shirt and the tank caught most of the sweat. You can also wash those in the shower and hang the same way. This was in Deep South summer.
Transportation to work – are there any alternatives to a taxi? Would Uber or Lyft be cheaper? Do you have those where you live? Is there a bus? You may have to walk some to get to it but it would save you money.
I have other ideas if you want to message.
Keep your chin up and keep plugging away it. Peace and luck.
how do your coworkers manage?
Just tell them that you can’t wash a shirt every day and if they don’t give you another one you’ll have to leave
