#JobSearchStruggles: I can’t keep doing this. π€―
Hey there, fellow job seekers! Let me paint you a picture of frustration and exhaustion. I’ve sent out hundreds of applications since February, only to be met with rejection after rejection. π Every morning, I wake up to more rejection emails, and it’s starting to feel like I’ll never land a job again. Can anyone relate?
I’m not looking for just any job – I want a career that I’m passionate about. But the only interviews I’m getting are for an industry I’m trying to escape. π© It feels like a never-ending cycle, and I’m at my wits’ end. Is there light at the end of the tunnel, or am I doomed to stay stuck in this rut forever?
I know I’m not alone in this struggle. So, let’s commiserate together and share our experiences. Have you been in a similar situation? How did you break free from it? Let’s support each other in this challenging journey. πͺ #JobSeekersUnite #NeverGiveUp #CareerGoals #JobHuntWoesh.
After trying what you’re doing and truly hope you get something acceptable. I went through 5 jobs in two years so my background is trashed. The dog and pony show called the interview process always goes smooth. Then when getting into the actual job it’s night and day difference. I’m going a different route and hope this works out better. Two trash jobs, one full time and one 30/hrs a week. Between those two I’ll make more than any of the 5 previous jobs. Less stress but working beneath my skill set. They are both very close to home. Wish me luck and ditto to you!
Fuck. This. Market. Also, fuck the low wages and wanting 10-12hr shifts everywhere.
I got hired last month just to let go without even started. Yeah, got hired at this one spot. Say they will send emails withing 24 hours to complete. Didn’t get that email within 5 days after. Been emailing them that i completed everything. “New Head Coach” email me a week later saying they was working on a start date. My uniform was send to me this week. Been emailing both the hiring manager and new coach on what time to come in. No replies. I called the store, been told they werent in and try again later. They even took me off the employee portal so I couldn’t login anymore. Now I’m back to square 1. Unprofessional. And the sad thing is I Been applying for jobs since last Nov and kept apply even when I got hired.
This is exactly how I feel. Iβve been mass applying as well and itβs making me feel so discouraged whenever I get rejections π I honestly donβt know what else to do at this point other than to keep applying and just hope something lands for me
30 years in the mortgage business. Unemployed 14 months. I believe itβs my age of 60. Still need a full time job
30 years in my line of work. Out of work 14 months. I believe itβs because Iβm almost 60. Can
I can’t figure it out either. I just… don’t understand what is wrong with my resumes, my cover letters, etc. I do what I am told to do and I get rejected or ignored.
I donβt know your situation, if youβre taken care of and fine then good, but you sound stressed about it.
Consider taking the filler job. I lost a 28$ an hour job in trades and had to take a 16$ an hour job at a headshop lol.
It hurt, I didnβt know much about the industry, learned just enough to get by there, but with less pay came less responsibilities and it was super chill. Just kept looking despite working there and left to a better job when I could.
This is a horrific job market
Not sure what country you are in but applying for fixed term maternity leave cover posts, can be a great way to get experience and a foot in the door.
Going through the same thing. Unfortunately, some of us don’t come with a government discount to employers, which makes it tricky.
The Canadian government has set up an environment that favors ‘new to Canada’ and those on work visa, in general.
Not sure if that shit happens in the US, but it’s giving a lot of Canadians a hard time finding work.
I apply for jobs -globally- with a good cv and great references. Make it to the top two candidates (often!) One year in. No luck -whatsoever-. Iβm not even kidding. Thinking of selling my organs because of the life changes needed if I donβt get a job soon.
If it helps, the rejections you’re getting are not remotely a reflection on you, your worth as a person, or even your worth as an employee.
The market is terrible right now, and companies are doing their damndest to reset the wage growth that happened in the last few years. Many of them aren’t even hiring, just pretending to.
The market will improve and the tables will turn. The companies treating people like dirt right now *will* reap what they are sewing, and you *will* get a job.
I hate this job market honestly. I hope it turns around or start a revolution idk but it canβt keep being like this. Mass layoffs, qualified people literally begging for jobs, sending over 100+ applications, waiting minimum 6 months to get an offer or taking whatever job they can find. I hate this job market and I hate this economy.
Have you had your resume (and cover letters) reviewed by someone else? If youβre consistently not even getting interviews, my immediate concern is whether your resume is the problem. It might be that it isnβt formatted in the most ideal way, or it might not be highlighting your most relevant experience enough.
To some extent the job market is just nuts right now, but it couldnβt possibly hurt to get some outside perspective on the resume.
If youβre getting to interviews and not getting the job, and this is happening a lot, Iβd recommend practicing with a friend with some solid professional experience. I know it sounds silly, but interviewers often donβt really give feedback. Who else are you going to hear it from if youβre shooting yourself in the foot with your answers? Use some standard interview questions and do a mock interview.
I understand not wanting to work certain jobs because theyβre not in your desired field but let me tell you, having some money coming in is better than having no money coming in.Β
Itβs heartbreaking to get rejected so often, but donβt let it lead to lost hope. This market sucks ass so getting rejected doesnβt mean you arenβt qualified or good at your job. Itβs not you so donβt let it keep you down. Keep moving forward!Β
I got rejected form hundreds of jobs, but I didnβt let it affect me. I kept applying and interviewing as much as possible until I ended up with two job offers after 5 months. You may have been applying much longer than that, but you can do this. Giving up is not an option so keep trying. Try new things: Ask former colleagues for referrals, research good companies and send them an email, research local companies, try new jobs, learn a new skill while you have time and do it for free like HVAC or something. Donβt sit and wait. Get active and hold on to hope!
You can’t complain that you feel like you’ll never get another job again and then in the next breath explain why you’re above jobs that it at least sounds like you have a shot at getting. This is a seller’s market for jobs, so either beef up your resume, change your tactics, or accept that maybe the jobs you don’t want are the ones you’re actually qualified for.
I’m going through the same thing. Just today I got told I don’t meet the requirements for a position I’ve already worked in previously. I searched everywhere, in my own city, outside the city, on the other side of the country, other countries, I walked to places with my resume in hand. Applied to jobs that are well under my qualifications as well. Tried applying to remote jobs too. I feel your pain, but we keep going. Sooner or later something will come up.
Are you applying for jobs that youβre well qualified for and have experience in? Or are you applying to just any and every job?
