🚨 #GunSafety #PoliceReport #CommunitySafety
Hey everyone! 🌟 So, my friend had a scary experience this morning when her neighbor’s gun accidentally went off and a bullet ended up in her apartment. 😱 Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it begs the question – should she file a police report about this incident? Here are some thoughts on the matter:
– Is this a case of criminal negligence that warrants police involvement?
– Should the gun owner be held accountable for not properly storing their firearm?
– Could filing a police report help prevent future incidents and ensure community safety?
Update: My friend did end up filing a police report, but the response from the apartment manager was dismissive. 😞 Here’s where I think an effective solution could be:
– Encourage a dialogue between the neighbor and your friend to discuss gun safety measures.
– Contact local gun safety organizations for resources and support.
– Stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to authorities if necessary.
What do you all think? Should my friend continue to push for accountability in this situation, or is it best to let it go as ‘just an accident’? Let’s discuss! 💬 #CommunitySafety #Accountability #GunSafety
It is not unreasonable to report this incident to law enforcement. If it were me, there’d be no question about reporting it.
She isn’t necessarily entitled to have law enforcement verify proper storage or whatever — law enforcement will do whatever law enforcement will do. But negligently discharging a firearm where the projectile enters someone else’s home generally gets law enforcement’s attention.
She can report it to the police. What they do is unanswerable. This isn’t a situation she can insist on a pound of flesh.
She should report it to the police.
Guns don’t go off by accident they go off because somebody was being careless. absolutely report this to the police.
Check to see what the lease says about discharge of a firearm on the property. In my lease, it’s cause for immediate eviction.
An (ND) negligent discharge is a crime, this what Google say when I search it.
Negligent discharge of a firearm is outlined under California Penal Code 246.3. It states it is a crime for a person to willfully discharge a firearm in a grossly negligent manner andshooting it could have resulted in great bodily injury or the death of another individual.
You should look up your area specifically but I’m pretty sure it’s illegal all around.
She should file a police report immediately. It could easily end with the bullet hitting and killing someone.
Why would an apartment manager be checking for tenants following proper firearm safety rules? Would there be a test or inspection?
